Stage Edge
Inkjet Print on Newsprint
Welded Steel Rods
38 inches by 30 inches by 14 inches
Stage Edge is composed of steel rods welded to create an interconnected frame formed to match my proportions and scale. Building on the motif of a stage the piece engages with the idea of place in society. With an inset pedestal, the frame is difficult to ascend but easy to stand on, to represent the difficulty of attaining high status in society, though the “top” is stable once reached. With increased space, I look forward to expanding the piece into a series with varying geometry, materials, and structures within the external frame to demonstrate the multitude of elements related to the functions of society.
